In Web3 Crowdfunding, all subscription agreements are hashed so they can be independently verified. Hashing a subscription agreement is like taking a snapshot of the document at a certain point in time and sharing the precise specifications which define it without revealing what the document says. By embedding hashed subscription agreements into smart contracts on public blockchains like Avalanche, Web3 Crowdfunding investors are able to verify their accuracy independently. Let’s review how this works.

How To Verify The Authenticity Of A Subscription Agreement

From within the Web3 Crowdfunding purchase flow, investors will see the option to download their agreement in Step 4. Select the “download” button to save a copy of the document locally.

Now, scroll over the Hash field to read about the next step, verification. This tooltip describes the following steps.

Next, click the “copy” button to copy the hash of the agreement to your clipboard.

Then, go to an independent hash verification website like this SHA256 File Checksum site: 

Upload the subscription agreement document that you downloaded from Securitize Markets to compute the SHA256 hash of the document. (If “Auto Update” is enabled, then the hash will be automatically calculated.)

Finally, check the hash produced against the hash that you copied to your clipboard. If both hashes match, then you can be certain that your subscription agreement document is authentic.
